Volcanic Crystal

I’ve recently been rekindling my love affair with Los Angeles beaches.  Living in the most populous city in the nation has its challenges, and sometimes you just have to get away.  Luckily, we have several less traveled natural areas that are protected by bluffs that are a little daunting for the average beachcomber to maneuver, and so these places are the ones I seek out when I need some quiet time.  Its amazing how closely some of our beaches resemble those found along the Italian coastline.  In fact, a quick web search of the Amalfi Coast will show you images that look very similar to Palos Verdes.

This abstract image is a volcanic section of a large bluff that meets the Pacific. Notice the crystal-like formations forming between the cracks (below).
