An Emotional Connection
My process starts internally, before I even think about venturing into nature to shoot. Meditation and pre-visualization is a key component to "finding" an amazing scene. Hours, days, and sometimes years go into the making of an image. When I finally "see" the scene in front of me and start setting up for the shot, its a moment of expanded awareness where my consciousness is meeting nature in her pure form, and she's saying, "Here I am. Capture this moment!" I am an observer, and I co-create with Mother Nature. She is the real artist.
I only use the most advanced digital cameras and precision lenses to create photography. My art and clients are worth it. While I work closely with some of the top labs in the world to reproduce my works, I also make my own prints. In either case, I only use the best museum quality/archival materials.
Photographic Print Types and Presentation
Display of these artworks in your space is personal. While I can make suggestions about how I prefer my art to be shown, I respect your choices in presentation and provide the highest quality of archival (museum quality) materials that last hundreds of years. You can rest assured that your investment can be enjoyed for generations to come.
Limited Edition Prints (also called our "Signature Collection") are signed and numbered and are usually kept at a low number. This makes them very special and highly valuable to the collector. You will receive a certificate of authenticity with purchase. Edition runs are usually 25 to 100.
Artist Prints are more valuable to collectors because a very small number are made. When Artist Prints become available they sell very quickly. These special prints can be thought of as working versions, sometimes with slight imperfections or variations, that are made before the master print is perfected. They are also signed and numbered and usually only 5 - 10 are made.
Studio Proofs are the rarest print type in my studio. They are not available for every image.
At times, during the perfecting process, I will print an image just for me because I love what I see, or I have to sit with something to make sure I like it. Studio proofs are considered valuable to curators and collectors because they may reveal an insight into how I was moving through my process. They are usually different than the Artist Prints and no more than five will ever be made, although they usually number one or two. Studio Proofs are not usually found on my website.
Open Editions are still made with archival quality materials and can usually be ordered in a wide variety of sizes. They are signed (unless otherwise specified), but not numbered.
Posters are sometimes available in open or limited runs, and include location information and camera data. These are not typical poster quality. They are made with high quality photographic paper and archival inks.
Print Media & Styles
In our online store you will find that sometimes a particular print type will not be offered because it doesn't match the style of the photo, or it may not be available in certain sizes. Each work is different; some may look great on photo paper, some on canvas, some on metal. You are welcome, however, to contact us for special presentation requests.
