Topanga Secret

Topanga Secret Workshop

Because L.A. is so fickle when it comes to rain, we're trying something new this winter! Sign up for the newsletter and get notified about the one-time-only Topanga Secret Workshop.  Topanga is a special canyon in Los Angeles where time has sort of stood still. It's the last place without any major corporate coffee shops, and still has a community vibe that is very tangible.  The landscape still retains some secrets as well, and some "harder to reach" places with unique rock formations and waterfalls only Michael has photographed.  Now willing to share this knowledge with a limited select group, a workshop is being designed for the exact right time when water is flowing strongly, but not dangerously.  If you are interested please be able to "boulder" and do basic rock climbing using three points of contact.

More details to follow.

2019 Workshops

 Hike & Shoot

For the first time, Michael is sharing hike & shoot workshops with the general public!  These are designed for any skill level and you can easily sign up through AirBnB!  This is a great way to get outdoors with a professional photographer, enjoy nature, and pick up a ton of great tips. Sign up individually or as a group.

The Internal Journey of Landscape Photography

October 8,10

I am proud to be offering a "Super One Day" course for fellow PPA members this year.

Register for "The Internal Journey of Landscape Photography" on October 8 or October 10

Beyond the basics of landscape photography, there is an internal process that sets apart art from fine art. Learn how to use left and right brain mindsets simultaneously, balancing "being in the moment" and having an artistic mindset, with camera readiness and technique.  Too often, photographers get stuck in a rut doing what they are "supposed to do" or "taught to do." But to break free from the mold, and still make quality images that are intriguing and reflect who you are, takes preparation.  You will learn how your internal process is equally important to your art as the technical aspect of your photography.
